NEW website for matching gifts
https://www.easymatch.com/intel

Program Objective

The objective of the Matching Gift to Education program is to encourage employees, employee spouses, and directors of Intel Corporation to make personal contributions to support education.  The program is funded by the Intel Foundation.

Who is eligible to have their gift matched?

Eligible donors include:

§         Active regular blue-badge employees of Intel Corporation and their spouses. Maximum match is $10,000 per calendar year per employee or per couple (employee and spouse).  If both spouses are employees of Intel, each is eligible to match to a maximum of $10,000 per year.

§         Active flexible workforce blue-badge employees of Intel Corporation and their spouses. Maximum match is $10,000 per calendar year per employee or per couple (employee and spouse).  If both spouses are employees of Intel, each is eligible to match to a maximum of $10,000 per year.

§         Directors of Intel Corporation. Maximum match is $10,000 per calendar year per donor.

All gifts except Memorial Gifts (see below) are matched 50%.

What kinds of schools are eligible to receive matching gifts?

Intel Foundation will match qualified employee contributions to any accredited school (generally recognized academic accrediting board) in the United States that is either a:

Four year college or university

Technical or community college

K-12 school (elementary or secondary)

School or university foundation (must have 501c(3) status with IRS)

Both publicly funded and private nonprofit independent schools are eligible.  All schools that are not publicly funded must have status under section 501c(3) of the tax code.

What is a qualified contribution?

The contribution must be a personal gift of cash or stock (FMV on date of donation) by the eligible donor. It must be paid, not pledged, and verified by the recipient (the school) on the Matching Gift to Education form submitted to the Intel Foundation.  The Matching Gift form must be sent to the school for verification of data in the same calendar year that the donation is actually made.

What is the Minimum gift?

The minimum gift that will be matched by the Foundation is $25.  Matching Gift forms for gifts of less than $25 will be returned to the employee and will not be matched by the Intel Foundation.

What kinds of gifts will NOT be matched?

Intel Foundation will NOT match:

§         dues payable to national or local alumni groups

§         amounts payable to the school as tuition, in payment of an auction item, subscription fees for publications, insurance premiums, or other such payments which are not in the form of directs gifts

§         gifts made to support athletic programs or athletic scholarships

§         gifts to public broadcasting stations (radio and television), even if located on a university campus

§         building funds or campaigns

Any Matching Gift to Education forms received that reflect gifts that are not eligible for a match by the Intel Foundation will be returned to the employee with a letter of explanation.

How do I get a Matching Gift to Education form?

Intel has a new website for matching gifts.  Much of the work can be done online at https://www.easymatch.com/intel.

What is the process for having my gift matched?

The process is simple:

STEP 1:                 Donor should fill out Section One of the Matching Gifts to Education form and send it to the school for verification that the donation has been made.

It is highly desirable to send the form to the school at the time the donation is made.

STEP 2:                 School will complete Section Two and return the form to the Intel Foundation, confirming that the donation has been received

STEP 3:                 The Foundation will verify information on the form and authorize payment to the eligible school.

Matching Gift Payments

Matching checks are distributed by the Intel Foundation to the schools at the end of each quarter.  The Matching Gift to Education form must be received by the Intel Foundation, completed by the recipient school or organization, by the following dates in order to be included in that quarter’s matching check disbursement:

Quarter

Date form must reach

Intel Foundation

(Closing Date for the quarter)

Foundation Payment Date to Schools

April 30th

Q2

Q3

October 31st

Q4

January 31st

If any form is received by the Intel Foundation after the closing date for a particular calendar quarter (middle column above), the gift will be matched at the end of the following quarter. If any gift is received after the Q4 closing date of December 15th, the gift will be applied to the following fiscal year and apply to that following year’s maximum match amount of $10,000.  It will NOT be applied to the maximum amount of the year in which the gift was actually made by the employee.

Donors will be notified when the gift is matched after each quarter.

Memorial Gifts

Any employee gift to an educational institution in memory of a deceased Intel employee (a person who dies while he/she was an active Intel employee) is matched at 2:1 (regular gifts are matched 1:1). That means that the potential maximum annual match (if an employee uses their entire $10,000 as a memorial gift) is $20,000 per employee per year, rather than the usual $10,000. If you are making a gift in memory of a deceased Intel employee, mark the appropriate box on the Matching Gift to Education form and include the name of the deceased employee.

Special consideration

The Intel Foundation reserves the right to determine whether any gift shall be matched. The Intel Foundation may change, revoke, suspend, or terminate this program at any time.
